iPhone Update
I totally admit…I’m a total iPhone addict. It is pretty bad but oh well. I put everything on it whether it be in the calendar app, the notes & I use lots of apps for- my dieting to enter my weight, to blog, Twitter, to record “Aunt Flow”and I take a ton of pictures on it to upload it to Flickr. Since getting the 1st generation iPhone a couple years ago I wouldn’t even think about getting a different kind of phone – and I usually get a different phone every year which is good about AT&T, they give good upgrades (well, they used to anyway).
Before the App Store we had Installer & the jailbreak community so I’ve always had great apps on my phone. Now I won’t upgrade to the newest firmware unless there is a jailbreak for it & the Dev Team is always really good at hacking into it. The only reason these days I want (need) a hacked iPhone is for the Cycorder app. I want to be able to take lots of videos of my baby girl and my iPhone is always with me. I don’t have an iPhone 3Gs, I only have the 3G so I don’t have the native video recorder.
The one thing that stinks about updating the firmware & jailbreaking is you have to restore your iPhone so you lose all your data (quickpwn please come back). Somethings are still backed up through iTunes but not everything. I also had to transfer all my contacts from Microsoft Exchange (mail2web that used to be free but hasn’t been for a couple months) to Google (which is free & does the same thing I use them for) which was a real pain in the ass. I like my contacts & calendar to sync from my phone to my computer so lets say I’m somewhere & I don’t have my iPhone (not sure that has or will ever happen but you never know) but need a phone number that’s on my phone (because I never memorize numbers nor do I write them down, who does these days?) I can log onto my gmail from any computer & get it, same goes for my calendar. I had to also save all my notes, my camera roll & anything else iTunes doesn’t back up.
Maybe I’ll get the 3Gs but I doubt it. I didn’t run to get it because the changes they made weren’t enough for me. If Apple made the new one have a better camera than 3 mp I would have but adding just 1 mp…and maybe if the changed the design a little from the 3G. Yes the speed is much faster but I’ll wait until the come out with a new one next summer because I’m sure they will… and if it’s with a new carrier I don’t want to be stuck in a 2 year contract.
